What does the calculator include?
The calculator allows you to enter preliminary allowances for:
building and renovation work
site and existing-building costs
construction contingency
architect and consultant fees
approvals and statutory costs
other project costs.
Rates and allowances can be entered excluding GST, with GST calculated separately where applicable.
You can also start with the total amount you have available to spend and use the calculator to see how much may realistically be available for the building work after the other project costs are taken into account.
What the calculator can't tell you
Every renovation is different.
Construction costs can vary considerably depending on the existing house, site conditions, project complexity, structural work, access, level of finish and the extent of work required.
The calculator is therefore intended as an early project-planning tool, not a builder's quotation, quantity surveyor's estimate or architectural fee proposal.
